ChartGuru Trending Review: How Rankings Are Calculated

Transparent Trending methodology—search attention, most-active volume, enrichment fields, and honest limits vs Movers and Gems.

If you're deciding whether to trust a trending feature at all, the right question isn't whether it's ever wrong — every trending methodology will surface names that don't go anywhere. The right question is whether the ranking logic is transparent enough for you to judge that for yourself.

Market Ranking input Enrichment
Crypto CoinGecko search trending order Price, 24h change, market cap, volume, categories where available
Stocks Most actively traded list (volume attention) Price, change, volume from the movers feed

Rankings update as the underlying attention data changes. There is no manually curated "trending" tip list dressed up as data — and there is also no claim that rankings combine social mentions with trading volume into one dual score.

Why this is not the same as Movers or Gem Finder

  • Movers / runners — price-move and runner analytics boards
  • Trending — attention leaders (search heat or most-active volume)
  • Gem Finder — multi-factor data-support score, confidence, and risk

The Trending UI states this explicitly: search and attention leaders are not the same as top % movers or Gem scores.

  • Attention rank
  • Asset identity
  • Price and change (when available)
  • Volume context (when available)

From any row you can open technical analysis (structure, levels, invalidation) or Gem Finder (ranked research). Range extension and "volume still building vs fading" are judgments you make with that next layer — they are not separate Trending score columns.

The honest limitation

Trending describes current attention. It doesn't predict whether that attention will continue, and it doesn't independently verify the reason behind a spike — a coordinated push that successfully drives search heat or volume can still produce a high rank. Trending is a starting point for closer research, the same way every other ChartGuru feature is built to be — not a conclusion to act on directly.

What this isn't

It isn't a claim of predictive accuracy, and you won't find a backtested "trending success rate" anywhere in ChartGuru's marketing unless that figure is generated live from actual tracked outcomes. If a number like that shows up somewhere and isn't tied to real data, that's inconsistent with how this feature — and every other part of the product — is built to work.

FAQ

How often do rankings change?

As source attention data refreshes (cached on the server for short windows). Names can appear and disappear the same day.

No. Crypto = search attention; stocks = most-active volume.
